Joss Whedon and Clark GreggIt's not a bad thing to be Joss Whedon's friend. Like, say, when your character is killed off in one of the summer's biggest films and he's resurrected in an ABC television series. Such is the case with Clark Gregg. Cue the comic book fans' tears of joy.

Marvel announced in a panel yesterday at New York Comic Con that the character of Agent Phil Coulson will be revived for the small screen series adaptation of S.H.I.E.L.D. Based on the Jack Kirby comics of the same name, the series will follow the adventures of the secretive military agency S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistic Directorate). Coulson will be brought back from his death in The Avengers, but there's no word yet as to exactly how that will be done...

Joss' brother Jed Whedon will join him in producing the show, along with Jed's wife Maurissa Tancharoen, Jeffrey Bell and Jeph Loeb.

There's no word yet as to when the series is set to premiere.

Rihanna and OprahOprah Winfrey has given Rihanna's reunion with Chris Brown her blessing. The chat show queen - who recently interviewed the "Diamonds" singer on her show Oprah's Next Chapter about her relationship with the R&B singer who assaulted her in 2009 - praised the pop princess for being able to forgive him.

"You know what I loved about that interview is that she came with a big, wide open heart. She was in the space of forgiveness. And that she learned a lesson, that she was repeating with Chris Brown exactly what she needed to learn from her father," she told Extra.

During their interview in August, Rihanna spoke about her memories of her father Ronald Fenty being physically abusive to her mother and how she learned to forgive him. Oprah said she does not think less of the popstar for reuniting with Chris: "I think that if she is prepared to deal with that and is prepared to help him help himself then so be it. I have no judgment whatsoever. If that's how you choose to lead your life, that's really okay."

Steven TylerSteven Tyler thinks Mariah Carey's bitter American Idol feud with Nicki Minaj is a publicity stunt.

The Aerosmith star - who announced he was leaving the reality show in July after a successful two season run on the judging panel - believes producers have orchestrated the women's outspoken rivalry to boost ratings. The "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" singer told TMZ, "Of course, are you kidding" when asked if he thought their furious bust-up was designed to generate more publicity.

Filming of the new series was called to a halt earlier this week after the judges' disagreement over a contestant turned into a bitter screaming match as Nicki hurled insults at Mariah, calling her "boring as f**k" and threatening "off with your head!"

The "Starships" rapper has continued to blast Mariah on her Twitter page. But American Idol producers have insisted the show must go on despite the tension and pledged their support for the entire judging panel.

Anna KendrickAnna Kendrick is desperate for a role on Downton Abbey.

The 27-year-old actress is a huge fan of many British TV shows but thinks her dream of appearing in the period drama is "inappropriate" as it isn't likely to come true. "I just watched Game of Thrones and the first two seasons of Downton Abbey. I have the most inappropriate fantasies about being on those shows - there's not a part for a tiny American girl in either, but I can dream," she said.

Anna is also a huge fan of talent show The X Factor, and was thrilled when girl group Little Mix won last year. "I have to catch up on Sherlock and X Factor. I loved that group who won last year, Little Mix. During their first performance I wanted to scream at the TV, 'Do you guys know that these are really good, really solid vocals.'"

And TV isn't the only thing Anna loves about the UK - she has "cravings" for English tea: "Every time I go to England the first thing I do is have tea. I crave it to the point where I panic, 'What am I going to do when I get home? I don't have a kettle.' But then the craving disappears - it's like something's pumped into the air."

Chace CrawfordChace Crawford will miss his "therapists" when Gossip Girl ends. The 27-year-old actor is sad to be saying goodbye to the rest of the cast and crew on the show when the season ends, and will be particularly unhappy to lose his hair and make-up team as they had become his confidantes as he spent so much time with them.

"I saw them for, like, an hour everyday. I talked to them about my life problems. Some were like a therapist. I'm gonna miss those girls," he said.

Although the show hasn't yet finished filming its final season, Chace already knows what he wants to take away from the set as a memento of his time on the hit drama series: "I would take some of those suits my character wears if I could. I'm gonna try and steal some badass ashtrays, if I can fit them in my coat pocket."

And Chace thinks that five years playing Nate Archibald has made him lose his dignity because of the situations his character has been in. "I'm gonna look for my dignity. My dignity is somewhere on set. I think it happened around season two. Leading into season three, it was all out the window," he said.

Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey hired extra security after Nicki Minaj threatened to shoot her.

The American Idol star has confirmed her fellow judge menaced her with gun violence during their explosive argument on the set of the talent show on Tuesday, and she is worried about the "unpredictable" rapper's next move. Mariah contacted chat show host Barbara Walters, who read out a statement on The View which revealed several staff members had heard Nicki quip, "If I had a gun I would shoot the b***h."

Kelly OsbourneKelly Osbourne has landed the lead role in a new cartoon series.

The Fashion Police host has begun working on the animated program, but refused to give details on what the "cool" show is about. "Voiced the first 2 episodes of a new cartoon I play a lead roll in! I wish i could tell you what it is because its so cool #AmazingDay (sic)" she wrote on Twitter.

While Kelly wouldn't disclose the role, it is possible it could be part of a previously-announced venture with her parents Ozzy and Sharon and brother Jack Osbourne.

The family will be turned into animated characters in upcoming series The F'n Osbournes. Created by Canadian animation house Cuppa Coffee Studios, the 20-episode series will be executive produced by Sharon and Jack Osbourne, as well as Adam Shaheen of Cuppa Coffee. "Teaming up with Cuppa Coffee has spawned a great opportunity to produce a unique animated primetime show," Sharon said in a statement at the time.

Carrie BradshawSarah Jessica Parker will never play another character like Carrie Bradshaw again.

The Sex And The City star has opened up about playing the famous role of Carrie Bradshaw in the hit TV series and two movies and admits that, although she loved playing the fashionista, she wouldn't choose to play a "flawed" individual with similar personality traits.

"I don't love the idea of playing another woman who loves fashion and is slightly flawed in New York City. I loved Sex and the City's Carrie and I don't want to do the poor man's version of her. And while those are often the lucrative things to do, it's more reason to look in the other direction," Sarah explained, speaking in ELLE magazine's "Women in Hollywood" issue.

AnnaSophia Robb will be playing a young Carrie in spin-off show The Carrie Diaries, which airs from January 2013.
